📧 Gmail Not Syncing in Mailbird Next

If you're having trouble using your Gmail account in Mailbird Next, one possible cause is that IMAP access is not enabled in your Gmail settings.

Additionally, your Gmail folders (also known as system labels) might not be visible through IMAP, which will in turn prevent them from appearing in Mailbird.

🔍 Common Symptoms of IMAP Issues:

  • If IMAP is disabled, you won’t be able to add your Gmail account to Mailbird.

  • If your Gmail account is already connected, it may stop syncing and display an error.

  • If specific folders aren’t marked as visible through IMAP, they won’t appear in Mailbird.

✅ Part 1: Enable IMAP in Gmail Settings

Follow these steps to make sure IMAP is enabled for your Gmail account:

  1. Open Gmail in your browser.

  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.

  4. Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  5. Under the IMAP Access section, make sure Enable IMAP is selected (as shown below).

🗂️ Part 2: Show Gmail System Labels in IMAP

Mailbird Next relies on Gmail’s system labels (folders) for syncing and organizing emails. To ensure that everything works correctly:

  1. Click the gear icon in Gmail and select Settings.

  2. Go to the Labels tab at the top.

  3. On the right-hand side, ensure the Show in IMAP checkbox is ticked for all necessary system labels (except Chats, which can be left unchecked).
