💾 Overview

Backing up your email data can be a smart move in certain situations, such as:

  • 🔄 Moving Mailbird Next to a new device

  • 🛡️ Creating a precautionary backup of your data

The Mailbird Next team recommends a straightforward way to back up key data like your emails, contacts, and other important info.

📁 How to Back Up Your Email Data

To manually back up your Mailbird Next data, follow these steps:

  1. Quit Mailbird Next completely to make sure it’s not running in the background.

  2. Right-click on your Finder and choose Go to Folder…

  3. In the field that appears, copy/paste this path: ~/.local/share/MailbirdNext/

  4. You’ll see a folder called Release.

  5. Right-click the Release folder and choose Copy.

  6. Right-click on your Desktop (or any safe location) and choose Paste Item.

That’s it! Your Mailbird data is now backed up.

💡 Additional Information

🔄 Moving to a New Mac?

If you're setting up Mailbird Next on a new device:

  1. Navigate to the same folder on your new Mac: ~/.local/share/MailbirdNext/

  2. Paste or overwrite the existing Release folder with the backup from your old device.

  3. You can use a USB drive or file-sharing method to transfer the folder.

📤 Moving Emails Between Servers?

Mailbird Next does not support server-to-server transfers, but here are some alternatives:

  • Gmail Users: Try Google Takeout to download all your data.

  • Chrome Extensions: Tools like "Save Emails to PDF" let you export or print multiple emails easily.

  • Third-Party Backup Tools: Consider using MailStore Home for advanced email backup solutions.
