Remote images are images that are downloaded from the internet when you open an email. They can include normal images, such as product photos and logos, but they can also be used by senders to track whether an email has been opened.

Mailbird Next gives you control over whether remote images load automatically, and also lets you allow images one email at a time when you prefer to keep stronger privacy settings enabled.

βš™οΈ Enable Remote Images Automatically

To allow remote images to load automatically in Mailbird Next:

  1. Open Mailbird Next.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Privacy Hub.
  4. Find the Block all images setting.
  5. Turn Block all images off.

When Block all images is turned off, normal remote images can load in your emails. If Block sender pixel tracking is still enabled, Mailbird Next may continue blocking tracking pixels while allowing regular images to appear.

πŸ‘€ Display Images Once for a Single Email

If you prefer not to allow remote images automatically, you can still show images for an individual email.

When Mailbird Next blocks images in a message, you will see a privacy notice in the message header with two options:

  • Display once loads the blocked images only for the email you are currently viewing.
  • Always display from [sender] allows images automatically for future emails from that sender.

Use Display once when you trust the email enough to view its images, but do not want to change your default privacy settings or create an ongoing sender exception.

πŸ”’ Why Remote Images May Be Blocked

Some remote images are used as tracking pixels. These are very small or hidden images that can tell a sender when, where, and how often an email was opened.

Blocking remote images can therefore improve privacy, but it may also mean that some newsletters, receipts, or marketing emails look incomplete until you choose to display their images.

πŸ’‘ Still Need Help?

If remote images are not loading as expected, check your Privacy Hub settings and whether the email is from a trusted sender. If you still need help, please contact our Customer Happiness Team here and we will be happy to assist.
