📨 What Is Download Emails on Demand?
Download emails on demand lets you manually load email content only when you open a message, rather than downloading everything automatically. This gives you more control over bandwidth and performance.
✅ When This Feature Is Useful
- First-time setup — If you’re connecting multiple accounts with thousands of existing emails, enabling this prevents Mailbird from downloading them all at once.
- Limited data connection — On a mobile or metered connection, only subject lines are loaded initially. Email bodies download only when you click to read them.
- Server throttling — If your email server throttles connections during large syncs, this feature reduces the load by fetching emails individually on demand.
🛠️ How to Enable or Disable It
- Open Mailbird Next.
- Click the Settings icon (cog) in the left sidebar.
- In the Reading section, toggle Download emails on demand on or off.
⚠️ Good to Know
When enabled, you may notice a brief delay (a few seconds) when opening an email, as Mailbird downloads the content from the server at that moment.
