Send and mark done sends your reply and then marks the original conversation as done, which removes it from your Inbox and places it in your Archive.

If emails seem to disappear after you reply to them, the most likely reason is that you used Send and mark done instead of the regular Send button.

💡Tip: Use the regular Send button if you want the conversation to stay in your Inbox after replying.

✅ What Send and mark done does

  • Sends your reply as normal.
  • Archives or marks the original conversation as done after the reply is sent.
  • Removes the conversation from the Inbox, while keeping it available in your mail account.
  • Keeps your sent message in the Sent folder.

🧭 How to use Send and mark done

  1. Open an email from your Inbox.
  2. Click Reply or Reply all.
  3. Write your reply.
  4. Use the secondary action next to the Send button and choose Send and mark done.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Enter
  • Mac: Command + Shift + Enter

⚙️ When the option is available

Send and mark done appears only when Mailbird Next can mark the original conversation as done. This means it is generally available when:

  • You are replying to an existing email, not composing a brand-new message.
  • The original conversation is currently in the Inbox.
  • The conversation can be archived or marked as done for that account.

If you do not see this option, send the message normally and archive or mark the conversation as done manually afterward.

📦 Where the email goes afterward

After using Send and mark done, the original conversation is removed from the Inbox. Depending on your email provider, you can usually still find it in places such as your Archive, or by searching for the message in Mailbird Next.
