📝 Overview
If it looks like Mailbird Next is automatically marking your emails as “Read” or deleting them, don’t worry — Mailbird will never do either of these things on its own. This article explains what’s actually happening and how to fix it.
🚫 Mailbird Next Doesn’t Mark Emails as Read or Delete Them
Mailbird Next has no automatic rules that mark emails as “Read” or delete them without your input. If you’re seeing this behavior, another email client connected to your inbox is performing these actions, and Mailbird Next is simply syncing with the server and reflecting those changes.
⚠️ Common Cause: IMAP vs. POP3 Conflict
The most frequent cause is when Mailbird Next uses IMAP (which syncs with the server), while another email client on a phone, tablet, or computer uses POP3.
The POP3 protocol downloads and then deletes emails from the server, which makes them disappear from Mailbird Next — even though another app removed them.
🔍 How to Identify the Problem
To find out which device or app is causing the issue:
Temporarily disable all other email clients except Mailbird Next — including those on mobile devices.
Re-enable them one by one.
Monitor your inbox in Mailbird Next after enabling each client.
When the issue reoccurs, the last client you enabled is likely the cause.
đź’ˇ Tip: Send yourself some test emails to the affected account so you can spot changes quickly.
