Overview

If Mailbird Next reports that your Exchange version is unsupported, the server you are trying to connect to may be too old or configured in a way that is not compatible with the connection method you selected.

What to do next

  1. Confirm the server version with your IT administrator. If this is a work or school account, your administrator can tell you whether the environment supports the connection method you are trying to use.

  2. Try the recommended setup path for your account type. Some environments work better through autodiscover, while others require manual server details.

  3. Check whether IMAP and SMTP are available as an alternative. In some organizations, Exchange may be restricted but standard mail protocols are still enabled.

Important note

This error normally indicates a server-side limitation or compatibility issue, not a problem with your Mailbird installation.

Still need help?

If you are connecting to a company-managed account, please contact your administrator and ask which setup method Mailbird should use for your Exchange environment.
